'Video' added to iPod trademark | News.blog | CNET News.com: "'Video' added to iPod trademark

Amid 'Mighty Mouse' mania, Engadget reported Tuesday on a development that's sure to fuel rumors of a September video iPod release.

Engadget's Barb Dybwad wrote that Apple has updated its trademark language for the iPod to cover video as well audio files. 'You know, September is only a month away and all, so we're sure there's some fanboys out there rushing to get in line at the nearest Apple store as we speak,' she wrote.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's search site does show a June filing describing iPods as 'handheld digital electronic devices for recording, organizing, transmitting, manipulating, and reviewing text, data, audio, image, and video files.' But related patents filed in 2004 also make some mention of video."
