Banning Laptops in Class: It's Academic, Silly
Academics finding hope in blocking technology had better think again, it's a battle that can't win, and it's not the battle they should be fighting.
I took a uc Berkley extension course years back. And the only things students were not allowed was to to watch prOn or Pirated copyrighted software with their notebooks computers while the class was in session. Since I could just Pirated software from my hi speed dsl net access at home. This restrictions for the class was not a hardship for me.
